Dear Parents & Guardians,
Thursday evening, the Board of Trustees met at a Special Board Meeting and discussed the “state of affairs” in our district. Of highest interest was the possibility of reopening our schools in the remaining weeks to come or deciding to extend the school closure through the remainder of the school year. As difficult as the decision may have been, the Board approved closing the schools up through the remainder of this school year and asked that we begin focusing on reopening this upcoming August/September. As a district we will still continue to provide educational services as we have been – both through “virtual”, online classrooms and through handout/packetwork materials. We will also continue to provide “Grab n’ Go” meals for the children in our communities, as well as deliver student assignments, resources, and materials, as well as technology devices to households and students throughout the district.
As much as we all would love to have our students return to the normalcy of attending school daily, that is just not meant to be. Our students’ world, as well as yours and mine, has been turned upside down. We need to continue working together to provide the best opportunity for learning and growth as much as we possibly can. So, we thank you for “hanging in there” with us and partnering with us to make this difficult time much more manageable.
Jeffrey A. Cirka, Superintendent
