• Alert:

The Idaho State Board of Education met and made the recommendation/decision to continue the “soft closure” order for Idaho school districts through the remainder of this school year.  That means, at this time, the rest of the school year for our students will be completed in the comfort of their home.  This is truly an unprecedented event in our lives but our district will continue to provide as many services as we can that will help our students, and you, our parents and guardians, in order to get through this process.  The Board and administration will be in discussion about the various Spring events that usually bring closure to our school years, such as Graduation.  We will be looking at alternative dates, as well as alternative activities, that will allow us the opportunity to celebrate these wonderful, traditional events.

Parent Teen Communication Month

Hello parents and community members,

The members of Rays Awareness, an advocacy group consisting of 9 Potlatch high school girls, would like to inform you that we have selected March as Parent Teen Communication Month. We have put together a list of ideas to help encourage communication between parents and their children. We would like to challenge you to take part in our efforts to strengthen this important aspect of the parent/child relationship by trying a new activity listed below everyday. We would also love if you would comment and share with the community the ways you implement communication at home!

  1. Plan one extra (beyond celebrating just birthdays and holidays together) all-family activity just for the purpose of celebrating your family life. During the fun, talk to each member about their impressions of your family life.

  2. At the dinner table, have each person name their favorite part of their day.

  3. Have a family date night! Put the cell phones away and play a game or watch a movie as a family.

  4. Set one night of the week to have a family dinner.

  5. Write a positive note or give a compliment. Ex. put a note in your child’s lunch box or write on the bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker to help brighten their day.

  6. Have at least one conversation with your child when they come home from school or practice before they go off and do their own thing.
