11/16/2020- Message from the Superintendent

Important Message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This past Friday, November 13, 2020, Governor Brad Little declared that he was moving the state of Idaho back from Stage 3 to Stage 2 of the Idaho Rebounds plan.  This decision by the Governor was due to the increasing number of Idahoans testing positive to the COVID-19 virus and the increased strain that has been put upon the medical facilities and medical community dealing with this population.

Although the Governor did not put any further stipulations or directives on school districts for providing education for our students, he did put restrictions on activities held in our venues, specifically our gymnasiums.  The Governor stated:

“Gatherings of more than 10 people, both public and private, are prohibited, including attendance at extracurricular activities such as sporting events.”

This directive went into effect at midnight, Friday.  So what does this mean for our Jr.-Sr. High sports teams and games in our gym?  On the + side, our students and our teams will get to continue to play and compete this Winter season.  On the – side, you, as a parent, family member, and/or fan, will not be able to attend home or away events until we come back out of Stage 2, and even then the number of spectators in our gyms will be limited.

We have recently purchased and installed a live broadcasting system, called Pixellot, in our Junior-Senior High gym and on our football field, so we can broadcast our games to our families and fans.  It will require either a monthly subscription ($10.99 per month) or a yearly rate ($69.99 per year).  A bonus from your subscribing to the service will be that a small amount of revenue from your subscription will be returned back to Potlatch Junior-Senior High School to assist the athletic programs.

You will see the score and the game action but there is no announcer or commentator during the games or matches.  It will cover all our home games and cover away games to schools that have the Pixellot system installed at their venues as well.  This currently includes:  Troy, Genesee, Nezperce, and Grangeville.  Those schools that have also purchased the system but have not installed it as of yet are:  Kamiah, Lapwai, and Logos.  In a crazy, mixed-up year like this one, this is a great opportunity to continue to support our student-athletes, our coaches, our teams, and Logger athletics.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey A. Cirka, Superintendent
